PMBIA System Overview

A technical framework for professional instruction.

PMBIA certifications integrate modern, evidence-based teaching methodologies with a skill-based model specific to mountain biking.

By providing a detailed analysis of the physics and biomechanics of mountain biking, the curriculum offers instructors an organized, technical framework for professional instruction.

This approach enables PMBIA-certified instructors to deliver safer, more effective lessons across all disciplines, from cross-country to downhill.

What the course framework covers

The course introduces the PMBIA framework and the structures used to create consistent teaching outcomes.

Assessment and preparation

Riding assessment

You’ll be assessed on your riding. Riding retests are generally more straightforward and can often be completed later via video submission.

Teaching assessment

The teaching side should be prioritised. Teaching retests are more involved and may require attending part of another course.

Instructor Trainer support

The Instructor Trainer will demonstrate the required skills and protocols, provide feedback, and explain what is needed to be successful throughout the course.
