Private MTB lessons - Unlock Your Potential

  • Our focused private mountain bike lessons are aimed at providing insights and an analytic approach to help steer your progression.

    If you’ve developed some bad habits in your riding or have a plateau in your progression - these might just be what you need to bring the flow back.

    Generally - these work best in three’s. If there’s jumps or corners you need to get better at - both those skills require a strong foundation and correct movement - which we will aim to create in your riding prior to helping you achieving your goals for an overall sustainable result.

  • Our private mountain bike lessons range from first time beginners to experienced and advanced riders.

    These can vary from introduction to mountain biking in a safe and controlled environment and/or toward catering towards fine tuning current skills and offering the right amount of challenge and guidance for further sustainable progression.

    - For beginner riders, private lessons can be a great first experience to mountain biking fundamentals - with our extensive local experience we are driven to deliver a service that suits your needs.
    - For experienced/advanced riders our aim would be further improve your skill in the first half of the lesson and then apply it to the abundant range of trail options and challenges that compliment your riding level.

    TIP: If there is a specific skill you would like to learn it is important to plan for 2 or 3 lessons. This ensures you receive a full circle understanding of the new skill and have enough opportunities to practice it our guidance.

  • Relative fitness for riding approximately 3 hours.

I’ve been riding Mountain Bikes for many years but decided to invest in 3 sessions with Piyush to see how I could improve my cornering and jumping. The 3 sessions went through body position, cornering technique and jumping skills. Piyush filmed each session so I could see what I was doing wrong, and then right. With his clear directions and explanations I was able to learn skills which have already made a positive impact on my riding. Highly recommended!

Cornering Development

CORONET PEAK

  • Master the art of cornering with our comprehensive Cornering Development course. Spanning four dynamic lessons from 5th Feb to 26th Feb, every Monday, 5:30 to 8:00 PM, you'll delve into body dynamics, bike-body separation, direction control, and advanced brake modulation. Find traction in corners like never before.

    Open to all levels and genders in mixed groups.

  • - Master body dynamics and bike-body separation for optimal balance and smooth turning.

    - Explore direction control with hip rotation techniques on Coronet Peak's diverse trails.

    - Develop advanced skills in pressure and brake modulation for precision cornering.

    - Receive dynamic, expert-led guidance tailored to enhance your trail experience.

  • 5th Feb Lesson 1: Body Dynamics - This lesson returns to the fundamentals, introducing and exploring body position and balance for enhanced braking effectiveness. We'll understand how to maintain a central position under braking forces and adapt to various trail features. This forms the foundation of your cornering technique.

    12th Feb Lesson 2: Bike-Body Separation - Learn to maintain a straight line between head and hips as you tip your bike to initiate a turn. Bike-body separation improves traction in corners and is essential for dynamic movement between the rider and the bike, leading to a fluid and composed ride on various trail sections.

    19th Feb Lesson 3: Direction Control - If bike-body separation initiates the turn, then hip rotation amplifies it. This lesson covers techniques to initiate and amplify your cornering, leading to greater dynamism in your riding.

    26th Feb Lesson 4: Pressure and Brake Control - Although we cover braking elements from the start, this lesson focuses on modulating braking for enhanced cornering effectiveness. Combining this with body positions and understanding pressure in corners helps manage tighter or high-speed corners more efficiently.

    • Relative fitness for riding approximately 2.5 hours.

      The format of the lesson is pretty relaxed.
      We aim to sweat the detail in our instructions not our participants.

    • Ample snacks and water for the duration of the session

    • Regular helmets and knee pads compulsory - Full face helmets strongly recommended.

  • CORONET PEAK

    LIFT PASS REQUIRED.

Having never mountain biked before, lessons with Treadmark gave me the necessary basic skills to explore the trails and bike parks more confidently. The lessons were structured into easy to follow steps, and we rode at different trails so we got to experience each one in a safe and supportive learning environment with the help of very patient and fun coaches. I can’t believe how much I’ve improved in the space of 4 weeks. I also met some awesome new friends to bike with through the lessons!Thanks heaps Piyush, Charlotte and Charl for the awesome sessions!
